I'm working on Veronik Avery's lace ribbon scarf, knitting it with Elsebeth Lavold's silky wool on size 5 needles. This scarf is supposed to be accompanying me on the Alaskan cruise we're taking next month, hopefully in completed form.
Here's where I am so far (this is one complete skein of yarn used, I *think* I have two more, so I'm going to call this one-third completed):
And because the gold of the yarn almost blends into the blond wood of the dining room table, here's a closer shot of the pattern:
I like it. I like the end result, the pattern is easy to memorize -- not mindless but not so complicated that I can't knit while watching Scrubs. This is actually the only thing I'm working on at the moment.
I'm in the second round of the Ravelry scarf exchange, and have an idea what I'm going to knit and with what yarn.
I'm also in an afghan block exchange and I'm looking forward to making an afghan out of blocks from a dozen different knitters.
Both of these swaps just started and the deadlines are far into the future. I probably will post a picture of the scarf only after my downstream partner has received it. I'm not sure about the blocks.
We've been doing a bit of shopping for vacation and I've tried on a few cute shrugs -- now I really want to knit one before I go. Any suggestions?

Reclaiming the blog.
I 'accidentally' deleted my blog and all of its posts and have been unable to recover them.
So I'm starting again, from this point forward (luckily I was able to reclaim my url). I'm not going to try to find my old posts and post pictures of old FOs. If anyone wants to see them, they are all on ravelry (username = humglum).
For now I'm headed out the door so S. and I can go shopping for our vacation. Hopefully later I'll be able to upload pics of my current wip, Veronik Avery's lace ribbon scarf from the current issue of Knitty. I also want to talk about the current round of the ravelry scarf exchange.
More later!
